Peran Nutraseutikal sebagai Terapi Pendukung dalam Pengelolaan Gejala Asma: Tinjauan Literatur

Di era modern ini, asma tetap menjadi penyakit pernapasan kronis yang signifikan yang mempengaruhi jutaan orang di seluruh dunia, dengan keterbatasan dalam terapi farmakologis saat ini akibat efek samping danpenurunan kepatuhan. Tinjauan literatur ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi peran nutraseutikal berbasis tumbuhan sebagai terapi tambahan untuk pengelolaan gejala asma dengan menganalisis studi eksperimentalterbaru. Ulasan ini dilakukan menggunakan artikel penelitian asli yang diterbitkan antara tahun 2019 dan 2025,yang bersumber dari PubMed, ScienceDirect, ResearchGate, Google Scholar, dan Publish or Perish. Kriteria inklusi berfokus pada studi yang menyelidiki aktivitas farmakologis tanaman obat terkait asma menggunakan model in vitro, in vivo, dan in silico. Sebanyak 23 spesies tumbuhan dari berbagai famili telah dianalisis, termasuk Matricaria chamomilla, Datura stramonium, Atropa belladonna, Polygala spp., Carapichea ipecacuanha, Mimosa pudica, dan anggota famili Asteraceae. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa tanaman- tanaman ini memiliki mekanisme multi-target yang relevan dengan pengurangan gejala asma, termasuk efek anti-inflamasi, antioksidan, imunomodulator, bronkodilator, mukolitik, dan pelindung epitel. Senyawa bioaktif utama seperti flavonoid, alkaloid, saponin, polifenol, terpenoid, dan siklotida diidentifikasi sebagai kontributor efek-efek ini melalui jalur molekuler seperti NF-?B, MAPK, JAK/STAT, PI3K/AKT, dan TLRs. Meskipun sebagian besar bukti berasal dari model praklinis, konsistensi hasil biologis menunjukkan potensi kuat untuk penerapan klinis. Studi lebih lanjut diperlukan untuk menstandarkan ekstrak, memvalidasi profil keamanan, dan melakukan uji klinis pada manusia untuk mengintegrasikan nutraseutikal ini ke dalam manajemen asma berbasis bukti.
